Stepping Up to Serve
The fact that a Democrat has not served on Town Council since 2007, can’t keep me from entering the 2019 race to serve the people of Mount Olive. To me, long odds should not stand in the way of our dreams to make the world a better place for our children and grandchildren.
SUPPORTS SMALL BUSINESSES: My husband and I beat the odds and built a successful business that lasted until my husband retired in 2018.
BUILDING COMMUNITY: I brought people together to build a successful volleyball program in 2000. Today, the Mount Olive Volleyball Association continues to fulfill the mission of teaching good sportsmanship in a safe and fun environment to over 200 players each season.
AFFORDABILITY: I moved to Mount Olive in 1980 and have spent countless hours serving as a volunteer to improve our community. Now I find that my three children cannot afford to live in the town they grew up in and that many of my friends are moving away. We need to get back to basics so that people don’t have to work two jobs or work extra shifts to pay their rent or mortgage.
CLIMATE CHANGE IS LOCAL: My husband and I have been blessed with three beautiful grandchildren. I worry about their future and the difficulties they will face due to climate change. I believe that all change is local and we can no longer wait for Washington to solve our problems. Our local government needs to educate the public and implement common sense solutions to stop climate change.
I look forward to serving the people of Mount Olive and sharing their stories.
